It was our day in Chicago. We were walking around the downtown eager to see as many famous landmarks as possible. The walk by the Chicago River is unique. Admittedly, the streets of Chicago are much cleaner than in New York City.
As we left the hotel in the morning, we noticed a shop that had just installed plywood panels covering broken windows. We quickly learned from many people that the day before shooting took place in front of this store. It was right in front of the hotel where we were staying.
A walk along the river under the bridges is the main attraction of the city. The Riverwalk along the Chicago River is unique and was the highlight of our visit. We went to Union Station to see the famous staircase from the movie The Untouchables.
In the Millennium Park, we went to see Jay Pritzker Pavilion, an open-air theater designed by Frank Gehry. Stainless steel pipes are widespread there across the lawn. They help to distribute acoustics and create the feeling of a real concert hall.
The huge sculpture the Cloud Gate in the Millennium Park provides countless reflections. Looking through the steel structure, you find the nearby buildings to become small, and the base with the sky dominates in the reflection.
