In the Michigan State dominates forests and lakes. A new lake is around every corner, and there is usually a campsite nearby. We spent our last night at Lake Brevort in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Chilly weather in the middle of summer is not ideal for our style of travel. In such case, we move forward after one night.
After visiting Sleeping Bear Dunes, we wanted to see another dune system, this time at the Lake Superior. Perched dunes rise above an existing coastal bluff, and the Grand Sable Dunes are a prime example of this. It was interesting for us to see the formations that rise over 100 meters/ 300 feet above the lake level. It is rare to have such a long steep sandy shore.
